Start the New Year with a splash and get freezin’ for a reason! The Coastwatch Polar Plunge returns for its 8th annual event on Thursday 1st January 2026, taking place at Irvine Beach with the plunge happening promptly at 12:00 noon.
Event Schedule
On arrival, participants will receive a souvenir Coastwatch Polar Plunge wristband.
Please arrive early, as beach car parks are expected to be extremely busy.
The front car park will be closed to traffic, and participants are asked to gather here until the event is ready to begin.
Enjoy fun warm-up songs led by a local dance group, followed by a lively conga line guiding everyone onto the sand.
At 12:00 noon, take part in the exhilarating dash into the cold waters of the Firth of Clyde a thrilling and unforgettable way to kick off the New Year!
Warm up with complimentary soup provided after the plunge, available on a first-come basis.
About the Event
The Coastwatch Polar Plunge has grown every year, attracting increasing numbers of participants and raising more funds for local charities and community groups.
Participants register beforehand and raise sponsorship for a charity or organisation of their choice—all money you raise goes directly to your chosen cause.
Take part on your own or bring along friends, family, and community groups. It’s all about having fun, supporting local causes, and joining others as you get freezin’ for a reason to welcome in the New Year.
